GREGORIAN LIVE

Saturday, August 18 at 6:30 pm on WLIW21 New York Public Television

PLUS TICKETS TO SEE GREGORIAN’S OCTOBER 25 NYC CONCERT AND ATTEND A SPECIAL MEET & GREET!
The choir Gregorian Masters of Chant interprets modern pop songs in the style of the chants in a performance filmed live at the magnificent gothic Kreuzenstein Castle in Austria. Dressed in the robes of medieval monks and backed by a 29- piece orchestra, the choir’s haunting vocalizations against the dark and mystical castle backdrop bring an ages old sound into the modern musical landscape. Dramatic lighting and atmospheric dry ice, fire and mirrors combine with this ethereal sound to elevate a musical experiment from a curious concept to an incomparable artistic experience.
The choir performs Dire Straits’ “Brothers in Arms,” Eric Clapton’s “Tears In Heaven,” Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and “Scarborough Fair,” Elton John’s “Sacrifice,” David Bowie’s “Heroes,” Neil Diamond’s “Be,” Robbie Williams’ “Angels”and “Close My Eyes Forever,” originally performed by Ozzy Osbourne and Lita Ford. Guest vocalist Violet, sister of Sarah Brightman, joins the choir for “Moment of Peace.” The songs Gregorian performs are chosen carefully - 12-tone pop music must be translatable into the 7-tone scale of traditional Gregorian chants.
GREGORIAN LIVE is produced by Frank Peterson, who also introduced the unique sound of Enigma to pop music and produced Sarah Brightman’s popular PBS specials.
