In the year 1999, an album from Gregorian, "Masters of Chant" created a stir in the world. The creator of the project, Frank Peterson, had been previously successful with the project, Enigma. He pursued his vision that the fusion of pop and choral music would work simultaneously. With Gregorian, Peterson has created a distinct genre which has established itself as such. It is due to him that public interest has been aroused in this style of music, its been commercially successful and often emulated. It's success is reflected in more than 3 million in album sales and a steadily growing worldwide fan base.
In a time which leaves little room for reflection, Gregorian has become a phenomenon. Their music and concerts provide an opportunity for reflection and leads its audience though its unique presentations in a peaceful way and allows us to escape ordinary life for a time. The new release "Masters of Chant VII" will provide further proof of this.
Countless admirers around the world wait anxiously for signs of life from the group. In the 10th Anniversary year of the Gregorian project, fans will not be disappointed. Along with the new album, Gregorian will be celebrating the occasion with a world tour. In Nov. and Dec. 2009 Gregorian will present themselves in concert for fans in 24 German cities and elsewhere in Europe.
The integrated approach--selecting songs from the past 40 years and giving them a completely new style and life in the timeless sounds of the Gregorian chant appears inexhaustible. On "Masters of Chant VII" you will find interpretations from such artists as U2, Tom Petty, Snow Patrol and Guns 'n' Roses, along with an original composition penned by Gregorian.
The eight classical trained singers, costumed in monk's robes, along with their full backing band, will celebrate their anniversary tour with an impressive light show, flames and laser projections designed to delight and enchant their audiences.
